The revised Waste Shipment Regulation (EU 2024/1157) fundamentally changes how cross-border waste movements are documented. Paper forms are out. Digital submissions via DIWASS are mandatory. Here is everything your business needs to know , and what Travas does to make it simple.
EU Regulation 2024/1157 (the revised WSR) governs movement of waste across EU national borders. It replaces EC No. 1013/2006 (2006). Core objectives: full digitalisation via DIWASS, stricter controls on non-OECD waste exports, and circular economy alignment.
EU Regulation 2024/1157 published in the Official Journal.
Mandatory digital submission via DIWASS for all red- and amber-list waste shipments. Paper notifications no longer valid. Travas in production since January 2026.
Digital submission via DIWASS extended to green-list shipments (Annex VII).
| Waste category | Document | Procedure | Digital deadline |
|---|---|---|---|
| Green list | Annex VII | Information only (no prior approval) | 1 Jan 2027 |
