DIWASS is operated by the European Commission. Travas does not run it and holds no login for it. This page sets out where the portal is, which two conditions have to be met before that portal is of any use to you, and what to check when you are logged in and still cannot do anything for your company.
The European Commission gives one address. In the Commission’s own TRACES NT help documentation the instruction reads, verbatim: “To access DIWASS, follow this link: https://webgate.ec.europa.eu/env-traces/” [2]
The Commission’s Green Forum page about DIWASS gives the same address. [1]
That address belongs to the European Commission. Any other address is not the portal.
This is where most of the confusion sits, and it explains why logging in successfully can still leave you with an empty screen.
The first condition is a personal account. The Commission’s help documentation states that an EU Login account is required. [2] That account says who you are. It says nothing about which company you may act for.
The second condition is the company. The Commission’s Green Forum page puts it, verbatim: “To connect through commercial software directly with DIWASS, the operator must first be registered in DIWASS and have a user authorised to represent this operator in DIWASS GUI.” [1]
So the company has to be registered as an operator, and a user has to be authorised to represent it. A personal account on its own is not enough.
Travas can prepare and submit that registration on your behalf, as a one-off service. What the service covers and what it costs is set out on DIWASS registration. You can also submit the registration yourself directly with your competent authority, free of charge. The decision on the registration rests with that authority.
For companies registered in the Netherlands, the ILT describes the same two conditions. The quotations below are kept in Dutch, because a translated citation is no longer a citation.
“Om toegang te krijgen tot DIWASS heeft u wel een EU-account nodig.” [3]
“Dus u gebruikt geen E-herkenning.” [3]
Three situations, each one traceable to the two conditions above.
You are trying to log in with eHerkenning. The ILT writes, verbatim: “Dus u gebruikt geen E-herkenning.” [3] DIWASS runs on an EU Login account and not on a national access means.
A colleague cannot get in on your account. The ILT writes, verbatim: “Deze collega’s hebben daarvoor elk een eigen EU-account nodig.” [3] An account is personal and is not shared within a company.
You are logged in and see nothing for your company. Then the second condition is missing: either the operator is not registered, or you are not authorised to represent it. [1] The Commission’s TRACES NT help documentation carries separate instructions for the registration of an operator in DIWASS for the first time, and for requesting authorisation to represent an operator. [2]
The ILT describes its own handling of that application as follows, verbatim: “Binnen 5 werkdagen keurt de ILT uw aanvraag goed, stelt de ILT vragen of keurt de ILT uw aanvraag af.” [3] That sentence is the ILT’s, about the ILT’s own procedure. Travas makes no statement about how long an application takes or how it ends.
One thing this page cannot tell you. What to do when EU Login itself fails, for instance a forgotten password or a second factor that does not arrive, is not covered on the ILT page, and that page names no helpdesk for login problems. Checked on 2 September 2026. [3]
Travas is a platform for digital compliance in cross-border waste shipment under Regulation (EU) 2024/1157. The platform is connected to DIWASS through an approved API connection. [4]
Travas submits, forwards and confirms the submission. The decision on a notification or a report, and how long that decision takes, rest with the competent authority. [4]
Travas does not replace your EU Login account and does not remove the registration of your company in DIWASS. Both conditions above stay in place whether you work in the portal by hand or from your own software.
Whether the portal or a connection fits your volume is a separate question. That question, and the prices, are on en.travas.eu/knowledge/diwass-route-3-software/.
